Department of Mineral Resources examined the fossils at Krabi province
On August 10, 2020, Department of Mineral Resources by the Office of Mineral Resources Region 4, examined the fossils after being notified by the Office of Krabi Natural Resources and Environment together with Mr. Niwat Watthanayomnaporn (the informer) in the Lang Kok Woa cave at Moo 3, Ao Luek Nuea Sub-district, Ao Luek District, Krabi Province. The inspection results found fossils in ancient sediment layers attached to the cave wall. The inspection results found fossils in ancient sediment layers attached to the cave wall behind cows corral where is a Permian-era limestone cave with a mountain topography; and found fossils of coral and crinoids in limestone. This limestone layer is dissolved by the acidic water that forms caves cavity and stalactites. Inside the cave, found a streak layer of ancient sediment with carcasses of broken bones and teeth of animals in the past accumulated many kinds. It was initially assumed to be rodents such as hedgehogs, wild deer, or hoofed animals such as cattle or wild boars which they were all bonded together with calcium carbonate (CaCO3).

Tham Luang-Khun Nam Nang Non
To develop the Tham Luang for tourism, it should consider its characteristic in various fields. The basic of geohazard risk assessment is needed including the sensitive area assessment. This information is used to define the boundary of management area in the future in order to ensure the most cost-effective and beneficial under the conservation. The detail of outstanding characteristics of the cave which are obtained by the survey as follow.
Collaborate or support the operation of relevant agency or assigned job

Mineral Resources of Thailand
Geological Settings Thailand is situated on the southern margin of South-East Asia and consists of two microcontinents; Shan-Thai and Indochina joining together during middle Triassic due to continent-continent collision. Prior to their collision and suturing, these two microcontinents have similarly tectonic evolutions which result in continental accretion of each mincrocontinent. The similarity is characterised as the subduction of oceanic crust underneath the two microcontinents but in opposite direction during late Permian. Consequently, paired orogenic belt of similar stratigraphic sequences and paleolatitudes are obviously present in both tectonic area and divided Thailand into three geological provinces as western province, central province and eastern province (Figure 1).
Mineral resources management
Prepare the integrated information system of mineral resources management prepare integrated information system of mineral comprising significant information such as survey data, status, characteristic, value added guideline, downstream industry, demand, and supply of each minerals to apply as the database for specifying the mineral resources management, providing recommendation, guideline, and mineral resources management measures for each period.
Mineral survey and research
Reconnaissance survey means processing of data collecting in field, geological mapping survey, geochemistry survey, geophysics survey, or other methodology.

Environmental Geology for Environment Planning and Management
Fast-growing regions are the areas around major urban centers, which are generally characterized by high exploitation rates of the geological resources (mineral raw materials, groundwater, and soil) as well as by increasing competing demands towards the use of the available land, if not supported by information on the availability, quality and vulnerability of the geological resources, serious environmental impacts are likely to occur such as groundwater overuse, loss of fertile soil, destruction of the landscape as well as soil and groundwater pollution, etcThe Department of Mineral Resources have been emphatically carrying out environmental geology work since 1996 with support of the Federal institute A project called "Environment Geology for Regional Planning” was established to provide relevant geological information and its application for land use planning and development in fast-growing regions of Thailand.
Active Fault Zones in Thailand
Seismic source zones for Thailand was first introduced by Nutalaya et al. (1985), based upon both seismological and geological evidences. Subsequently, Shrestha (1990) identified 9 active faults in the country on the basis of only seismological data analysis.

Registered Fossils
The exploration and research on fossil in Thailand have been conducted for over a century. Number of fossils; invertebrates, vertebrates, plants, and animal traces fossils have been reportedly founded assisting the understanding of evolution of geology and living things in Thailand and explaining the ancient environment, geography, and identifying the age and rock stratums.
What is fossil?
Fossil is the remains, or traces of remains, of ancient organisms in the earth's crust. (Since the past geologic or prehistory time) or that is removed or taken from the crust as evidence of the life in the past.
Dinosaurs species in Thailand
Department of Minerals Resource found many dinosaur bones in the sandstone formation in Mesozoic period.

Marine Mineral Resources in Thailand
Activities on marine mineral resources in Thailand have begun after the establishment of The Royal Department of Mines and Geology or Department of Mineral Resources at the present. In 1901, tin mining encroached on the coastal for 400 meters. In 1907, captain Edward Thomas Miles, known as father of dredge mining, brought tugboat called Padang towing the dredger called Bucket dredge from Penang, Malesia.
Marine Mineral Resources
At the present, the mineral resources in the deep sea that is interested by many countries can be classified by their originate pattern which are
Geochemical Exploration in Thailand
Geochemical Exploration is a method for investigating the unusual elements existed in the nature applying chemical analysis to determine the amount or composition of compounds in rocks, soil, sediment, or plant.

What is Geopark
The area combining the geologically significant topography. The holistic management is applied for the area comprising conservation, educating, and sustainable development.
Satun Geopark
This picture book of Satun Geopark Tourist Spots is published to publicize for promoting the vision of the Satun Province “Tourism City - Ecological Global Geopark - Sustainable Econimics - Gateway to ASEAN in 2014 – 2017”. This is to promote tourism in the Satun Geopark to get higher tourism potential and foster the National Satun Geopark to be a UNESCO Global Geopark. This book is composed of pictures of the tourist spots in the four zones namely (1) Sea – Islands Zone (2) Inland Ecological Zone (3) Fossil Zone and (4) Intangible Heritage Zone. This book is an information guide for the tourists to know more about our new tourism packages according to the types of tourism. We believe that this book is an easy way to learning through the pictures and to get motivation to visit our new point of view of tourism. This is to stimulate the local economic and even the national level.
