The Fossil Site Subcommittee
visited the area to study the fossil sites.
The Fossil Site Subcommittee visited the fossil sites area in order to study Periwinkle
fossils at Mae Moh, the Petrified wood site, and the Fossil Geology and Natural
History Museum (Lampang) and the Airport Museum, Sukhothai province during August
6-8, 2020. In order to create an understanding of the mission of the Department
of Mineral Resources on fossil sites that will strengthen the mission of the subcommittee
to be more efficient. The participants consisted of Mr. Thossaporn Nuchanong, Chairman
of the Subcommittee, representatives of Department of National Parks, Wildlife and
Plant Conservation, the Department of Lands, Agricultural Land Reform Office, luminaries,
and 13 staffs of Department of Mineral Resources. There are experts in the study,
research, and management of fossils sources are lecturers.
Comments and suggestions from this visiting would be compiled and suggested policies,
plans, and measures forward for the conservation and protection of the fossils sources.
This visiting was well assisted for facilitating access to the area and study as
well from the Electricity Generating Authority of Mae Moh Mine, Doi Soi Malai National
Park (Triamkarn), the Airport Museum, Sukhothai province, and Office of Mineral
Resources region 1.
