The field auditor team performed the reassessment of the Satun Geopark of Thailand.

During July 29 to August 1, 2020, the field auditor team under the Committee for encouraging of Geological Sources Conservation and the establishment of the Geopark of Thailand which consists of Mrs. Sawitree Suwansathit (social science expert), Dr. Dhiti Tulyatid (regional expert), The Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East and Southeast Asia (CCOP), and Assistant Professor Dr. Krit Won-in, Vice Dean for Academic Services, Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University assess in the area of Satun Geopark for the continuity of the being of Geopark of Thailand.

Satun Geological Park covers 4 districts of Satun Province, namely Thung Wa, Manang, La-Ngu, and the island of Muang District which approximately 2,600 square kilometers. Satun Geopark was assessed and certified as the first national geopark in Thailand on 29 November 2016 and became the first UNESCO World Geopark in Thailand.

This field assessment examined the important geological sources, including the Khao Noi fossils source, Stromalite fossils source, and the Time-bounded zone, and local cultural sources such as Krajood basket weaving, Nepenthes Kuan Kong, Black Pepper Community Enterprise, and Tha Oi Community Enterprise, which are further developments from Panya Batik and educational institutions such as Kampang Witthaya school where is the second Geopark School network. Thungwa Worawit School is the first place.

The assessment would take into account the progress of the Geopark of Thailand, the implementation of the UNESCO recommendations, and the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable development goals.
