Reconnaissance survey
Reconnaissance surveymeans processing of data collecting
in field, geological mapping survey, geochemistry survey, geophysics survey, or
other methodology. The survey area is large covering the potential area to discover
the economic minerals for the further survey. The evaluation of mineral resources
in the step depending on the comparison of the geological characteristics of the
site with the discovered mineral resources.
Prospecting
Prospectingmeans exploring mineral site in the
potential area to discover the economic minerals resulting from the reconnaissance
survey by examining rock characteristics, geological mapping, geochemistry survey,
geophysics survey, or other methodology and may be dig the bore hole, trench, or
conduct drilling survey. The evaluation of mineral resources in this step is expectation
from the exploration results.
Semi-detailed exploration
Semi-detailed explorationmeans scoping of the mineral
site in the discovered area resulting from prospecting step by conducting detailed
geological mapping survey on ground, digging the exploration hole, making trench
exploration, drilling exploration or additional method and studying mineralogy.
The results will indicate the significant geological characteristics of mineral
site which can preliminarily estimate size, shape, and richness of the mineral site.
Detailed exploration
Detailed explorationmeans clarifying the boundary
and shape of mineral site discovered in semi- detailed exploration step by conducting
detailed geological mapping survey on ground and underground, digging the exploration
hole, making trench exploration, drilling exploration
Tunnel exploration or other methodology
Tunnel exploration or other methodologyincluding
study on mineralogy and mineral dressing. The exploration results from this step
will clearly indicate size, shape, and richness of the mineral site in three dimensions.
Exploration area
Exploration areameans the boundary of the survey
classifying by the size of the survey area in 3 levels e.g., large area (>100 square
kilometers), medium area (10-100 square kilometers), and small area (<10 square
kilometers).
1. regional exploration projectmeans the exploration
conducting in the large area (>100 square kilometers) expecting to discover the
accumulation of minerals by reviewing the geological map scale 1:250,000 or 1:1,000,000
and interpreting the data from geophysics aerial survey to collect the preliminary
mineral site and specify the mineral potential site.
2. Semi-detailed exploration projectmeans the exploration
conducting in the medium area (10-100 square kilometers) in the mineral potential
site resulting from the regional exploration or the area with adequate data on the
accumulation of minerals, the geological map scale 1:50,000 may be applied together
with geophysics aerial survey to specify the boundary of the mineral site.
3. Detailed exploration projectmeans the exploration
conducting in the small area (<10 square kilometers). It is the mineral site exploration
in the specific area where the mineral site is discovered or in the mineral site
area resulting from the semi-detailed exploration to specify size and orientation
of mineral site and evaluate the quantity of mineral resources.
